Tech Bytes: B of A Unit to Use Sprint's Screen Phone

Bank of America Nevada has agreed to use a screen-based telephone from Sprint Communications Corp. in its home banking program.

The phones, which bank officials describe as a cross between a PC and a telephone, let consumers see balances, pay bills, transfer funds, and make loan payments.

Though Bank of America's home banking service is free, the phone, called the Powertouch 350, costs about $250 through Sprint.

Powertouch also gives users the ability to use advanced telephone features, such as call waiting and caller identification.

The bank did not say how many customers are using the phone.
