Tech Bytes: Cal Fed Outsources Systems Maintenance

California Federal Bank has contracted with Rancho Santa Fe Technology of Alameda, Calif., for computer system services.

The three-year contract covers maintenance, repair, and restoration of mission-critical network computer systems within a four-hour response time, the vendor said.

Rancho Santa Fe would keep spare equipment, supplies, and technicians ready to serve the $55 billion-asset California Federal's branches in California, Nevada, Texas, Maryland, and Montana.

Cal Fed used Rancho Santa Fe to install its network equipment and is expanding this relationship.

With more than 400 widely dispersed branches, Cal Fed wants to minimize maintenance costs, said Patti Evers, a manager in its information systems operations. "We have fewer trips to Cal Fed sites" by Rancho Santa Fe technicians, she said, "because it is done right the first time."
