SunGard Recovery Services, a subsidiary of SunGard Data Systems Inc., has added trading-floor disaster recovery to its contingency offerings through an arrangement with Sema Group Recovery Services Inc.

A Sema facility in Jersey City would provide financial institutions with back-up trading-floor and related back-office support. The Sema facility has space for 500 people and is equipped with market-data feeds and other trading-floor technologies.

Jim Simmons, president and chief executive officer of SunGard Recovery Services, said "A prolonged interruption in trading operations can have devastating consequences -- in both lost revenue and lost customer confidence. Rapid uptime after a disaster is a strategic, competitive concern."
