Harbinger Corp., a software and network services provider, is developing electronic commerce capabilities for HVAC Online, which provides services to companies in the heating and air conditioning business.
HVAC Online will offer a site on the Internet for electronic exchanges of wholesale manufacturers' and parts distributors' business documents.
The system will use Harbinger's network server for Internet-based electronic data interchange.
Tom Banta, Harbinger's senior director of business development, said the system is aimed at improving the paper-based processing of warranty claims, such as those for faulty parts in heating and cooling systems. He said some five million such claims are submitted annually.
When the system goes live later this year, trading partners will be able to exchange purchase orders, present invoices, and browse a wholesale catalogue.
Harbinger and HVAC Online both are based in Atlanta.
