TS Inc., a Canadian cryptographic security company, said its Chrystoki software has been licensed by International Business Machines Corp.

IBM said it plans to add the system, which is used in secure tokens or smart cards, to its array of authentication, certificate management, and cryptographic services in electronic commerce.

Chrystoki supports the movement toward smart cards and similar hardware devices that can raise the level of assurance that the party to an on-line transaction is who it claims to be.

Chrystoki is an application programming interface for a secure token standard called PKCS (Public Key Cryptography Standard) 11, and IBM is committed to making such systems available within its "e-business" strategy.
