Tech Bytes: Major Turkish Bank Picks PC-Link Software

Novadigm Inc. said its Enterprise Desktop Manager has been licensed by Yapi Kredi Bankasi, the largest private commercial bank in Turkey. The bank is to use the system, known as EDM, to deliver and update software applications to 10,000 desktops. It has 430 branches and 1,200 automated teller machines.

"The bank aims by the year 2000 to double its ATM network and expand its telephone- and PC-based on-line banking services," said Yusuf Omerr Guldez, group leader at Yap Kredi. The bank said it was especially interested in EDM's ability to reduce the cost of ownership of personal computer stations by as much as 80%.

Novadigm said Yapi Kredi Bankasi is also considering licensing its Radia technology for Internet-based software distribution and "just in time" updating. Customers would be able to upgrade or repair their PC banking software automatically over the Internet, without a service representative.
