Republic New York Corp. has Renewed an existing deal and struck a separate new contract with Alltel Information Services Inc.

Financial terms and the length of the deals were not disclosed.

Under the contract extension, Little Rock-based Alltel will continue to manage the $47 billion asset bank's deposit and consumer loan systems.

Under the new deal, Alltel will develop and install various client/server computer networks for Republic offices worldwide. They will be part of a new "information pipeline" that should improve the way data flows between Republic offices.

The new networks will be based in part upon middleware technology, which controls the routing and queueing of programming messages in computer networks.

Nicholas A. Calabro, president of Republic Services Corp., said he expects the new system to improve Republic's ability to organize customer data.

"By enabling our various information systems to communicate more effectively, we will be able to introduce new products and services quickly and efficiently," he said.
