Regulus Using US Dataworks
The transaction processor Regulus Group LLC will use software from US Dataworks Inc. in a pilot test of a retail lockbox service to convert paper checks into images.
The two companies said last week that they would launch the project at a processing center in New Jersey and expect a national rollout next year.
US Dataworks, of Houston, said it will also develop software to process check-image files for clearing.
Regulus, of Napa, Calif., operates a nationwide network of centers for processing payments and other documents.
UMB Licenses NCR System
UMB Financial Corp. has licensed NCR Corp.'s system for processing check images.
The $7 billion-asset Kansas City, Mo., banking company said it will use NCR's ImageMark Transaction Manager package of hardware, software, and services.
Jerry Holder, a senior vice president at UMB, said in an NCR press release last week that the system is compatible with UMB's check processing application. NCR, of Dayton, Ohio, will provide UMB with a test system that will let its corporate customers convert checks into digital files at their locations. UMB will use the system to assess the potential of image capturing at the point of acceptance.
NCR also announced that the transaction processor Solutran Inc. will market and resell ImageMark Passport check-image capture software to its U.S. customers.
The Minneapolis company has more than 300 customers, including retailers, direct marketers, and consumer product makers.
Northern Trust Installing System
Northern Trust Corp. has licensed Getronics NV's Getronics GlobalFS teller system for use in the Chicago company's 15-state branch network.
The Dutch technology vendor said last week that Northern Trust plans to roll out the system in the second half. The system will let Northern Trust begin capturing check images at the point of presentment to reduce float, cut processing costs, and speed customer service.
Getronics, which has its U.S. headquarters in Billerica, Mass., said it also will provide systems integration, project management, and ongoing support to Northern Trust.
