Texas Insurer Promotes Graf, Geissinger to Vice Chairman

Frederick W. Geissinger to vice chairman and group executive, and it promoted David W. Entrekin to executive vice president for strategic development, a newly created post.

Mr. Graf, 40, succeeds Thomas L. West Jr. as vice chairman and group executive of retirement services. Mr. West will be a consultant to the diversified financial services company.

Mr. Graf joined American General in 1997 as president of its retirement services unit. Earlier he was vice chairman and chief marketing and administrative officer at Western National Corp., a Minnesota insurance group.

Mr. Geissinger, 54, succeeds James D'Agostino as vice chairman and group executive of consumer finance. Mr. D'Agostino left American General at the end of July. Mr. Geissinger joined the Texas company in 1994 as president and chief executive officer of American General Mortgage and Land Development Inc. He was promoted to president and CEO of American General Finance in 1995.

Before that he was executive vice president of Daiwa Securities and still earlier worked 21 years at Chase Manhattan Bank.

Mr. Entrekin, 37, joined American General in 1991 as a senior investment manager. He was promoted to director of investor relations in 1996 and to senior vice president of investor relations in 1998.

Before joining American General he was an investment analyst in the capital markets group at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Earlier he was a marketing representative at Texaco Refining and Marketing Inc.
