Gift cards issued by Discover Financial Services LLC are now on sale at vendors at 35 malls, the first time its cards have been sold at retail locations.
The Riverwoods, Ill., credit card company said Tuesday that the cards are available at shopping centers in 18 states, including such major cities as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Minneapolis.
All the malls are operated by General Growth Properties, which owns more than 200 malls across the country.
Dana Traci, Discover's vice president of prepaid and partner marketing, said in a press release, "We now can provide more relevant offerings to consumers, whether they're interested in purchasing a mall gift card or one that can be used anywhere Discover Network Cards are accepted."
