Bank stocks were mostly higher again on Thursday despite a lower overall market.
The leaders were National City Corp., up $1.375 to $51.75, and CoreStates Financial Corp., ahead $1.125 to $58.875. Bankers Trust New York Corp. rose $1 to $75.125, while J.P. Morgan & Co. improved 75 cents to $68.625.
Citicorp was up 37.5 cents to $30.50, and Society Corp. rose 37.5 cents to $35.50 after both were named among 10 "uncommon values" by Lehman Brothers.
The biggest loser was MBNA Corp., down 87.5 cents to $28.375 after a big gain the previous day.
