Finance jobs are going fast at regional banks in Middle America.
Comerica Inc. in Dallas and Fifth Third Bancorp in Cincinnati named treasurers Tuesday.
At the $60.9 billion-asset Comerica, James J. Herzog succeeds Michael H. Michalak, who was named interim treasurer in July. At the $115 billion-asset Fifth Third, Tayfun Tuzun takes over as treasurer on Dec. 2. He will succeed Mahesh Sankaran, who is taking a position as director of finance with M&T Bank in Buffalo.
Comerica's Herzog will be responsible for managing liquidity and interest rate risks, insurable risks, capital planning and special finance projects. Since joining Comerica in 1984, Herzog has held several finance positions, focusing on forecasting and planning, pricing and reviews of strategic business lines. He most recently was senior vice president and divisional finance officer of Comerica's business banking unit.
Tuzun has been the assistant treasurer and balance sheet manager at Fifth Third, overseeing investment portfolio activities and balance sheet strategy. Before joining Fifth Third in 2007, he was director of research and risk management at FSI Group in Cincinnati. He worked at the Provident Financial Group in Cincinnati before that.
