The Treasury Department said it awarded more than $54 million to 89 institutions through its Community Development Financial Institutions Fund program.
The program provides funds to lending organizations including banks, credit unions, and housing advocacy groups that serve low-income communities that need affordable financial services.
This year applicants requested over $205 million.
The recipients included ASI Federal Credit Union of Harahan, La., which received $1.097 million, and Liberty Financial Services Inc. in New Orleans, which received $1.096 million.
