Unisys Image System For Dai-Ichi Kangyo

BLUE BELL, Pa. - Unisys Corp. announced that it has sold a $6 million image-processing package to the world's largest banking company, Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank Ltd., Tokyo.

Under terms of the deal, Unisys will provide hardware and integration services to enable the $500 billion-asset bank to process tegata, whichare Japanese financial documents that resemble American checks.

The system, which is scheduled to be fully installed by April, will streamline tegata processing in much the same way that similar systems improve check processing in the United States.

According to Unisys officials, the system is expected to reduce labor costs at the bank. Specifics were unavailable.
