The banking technology vendor Open Solutions Inc. has agreed to offer biometric authentication products from U.S. Biometrics Corp. of Naperville, Ill.
Open Solutions said Monday that it would offer its bank and credit union clients U.S. Biometrics' PassQ system, which lets people use fingerprints as passwords; MemberQ, a fingerprint biometric recognition system; and CentralQ, a centralized repository for biometric traits and other credential information.
The Glastonbury, Conn., company said that many people have lost faith in standard passwords and that biometrics offers strong security.
Mike Nicastro, Open Solutions' chief marketing officer, said in a press release that, "in response to the multitude of identity theft and data breach stories in the headlines, consumers are demanding more security from their financial institutions."
