Global Payments Inc. has agreed to distribute and support VeriFone Systems Inc.'s PayWare Mobile card-acceptance system in Canada.
Global Payments, of Atlanta, is already offering merchants the PayWare Mobile device, which lets users accept card payments with Apple Inc.'s iPhone.
Earlier this year VeriFone, of San Jose, began selling its PayWare Mobile reader in Apple's retail stores.
"VeriFone has created a market-leading mobile payment solution that will expand electronic card acceptance to a broad range of merchants and small businesses," Jeff J. McGuire, the vice president for product development and marketing at Global Payments' Canadian unit, said in a VeriFone press release Wednesday.
