VeriFone Holdings Inc. is reorganizing its European, Middle East, and African marketing team in an effort to boost sales across the region.
The San Jose terminal maker said Monday that it would divide the team, forming one sales group focused on continental Europe and another team that will cover Northern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Yolanda Rousselet has been hired as general manager for continental Europe. She was previously the head of international sales at Sagem Monetel, the electronic payments unit of the French conglomerate Safran Group.VeriFone's main rival, Ingenico SA, acquired Sagem earlier this year, making it the world's largest terminal company.
Nigel Bidmead, a longtime VeriFone executive, has been promoted to managing director for Northern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Douglas Bergeron, VeriFone's chief executive officer, said the new structure would help his company reach its goal of doubling its sales in the area over the next several years.
"By implementing this divide and conquer strategy, we can effectively deploy additional resources and focus management efforts on the many countries in these regions," Mr. Bergeron said in a press release.
