Wachovia Hires Energy Manager

Strategic Resources Solutions has won a contract to manage the energy use of 708 Wachovia Corp. facilities throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Strategic Resources will consolidate utility bills and provide Internet- based information to promote effective energy management for the North Carolina banking company.

The project's initial focus is to simplify processing of 2,800 utility bills. The bills will be consolidated on the Advantage Customer Internet Site, or ACIS.

Strategic Resources uses ACIS technology to deliver real-time data on energy use. Facility managers would use the information to evaluate the effectiveness of energy-saving programs and make comparisons across sites.

"At $11 million annually, utility services are Wachovia's single highest operating cost," said Robert Cashner, Wachovia vice president of facilities. "The SRS consolidated billing and resource accounting service is helping Wachovia turn the costs of utility bill paying into positive cash flow with Internet-based information for better management of this large budget component."
