Wachovia Veteran Holt Joining SunTrust

SunTrust Banks Inc. of Atlanta has hired Wachovia Corp. veteran Bill Holt as head of business banking.

Holt, one of several executives to leave Wachovia since its Dec. 31 sale to Wells Fargo & Co., had been the head of community banking at the Charlotte company before Wells acquired it. He is expected to join SunTrust in mid-July, said Hugh Suhr, a spokesman for the Atlanta company. Holt was not available to comment, Suhr said Monday.

Other Wachovia executives who have left the company since its sale include Cece Sutton and Ben Jenkins, who are overseeing Morgan Stanley's banking efforts.

U.S. Bancorp of Minneapolis said in May that it had hired former Wachovia investment bankers Jim Kelligrew and Charles Dee O'Dell to open a capital markets and corporate banking office in Charlotte.
