Whalen Promoted to OCC Policy Post

WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency named agency veteran Gary Whalen deputy comptroller for economic policy and analysis effective April 6.

Whalen has been with the OCC since 1991, starting as a financial economist. He served as deputy director of the Bank Research Division and most recently was director of the Policy Analysis Division. He previously worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, where he was an economic advisor.

Whalen will succeed David Nebhut, who was promoted to senior deputy comptroller for economics in November.
