Windows version of bond portfolio program.

Capital Management Services, a Los Angeles-based software company, says it is in the final stages of developing a Windows-based version of BondEdge, its fixed-income portfolio analytics package.

"The bulk of our clients are moving towards Windows," said Capital Management's executive vice president, Laurie Adami. "The time is right for us to release this new version."

BondEdge is installed at more than 400 financial services institutions. It is primarily used by trust executives, mutual fund managers, investment managers, and other professionals who have at least a half billion dollars of bonds in their portfolios.

Client-Server Architecture

The new Windows-based version of BondEdge will include a client-server architecture offering easier multiuser functionality.

"Windows makes it easier to implement BondEdge in a networked environment," said Ms. Adami.

With Windows, she said, clients can run different applications at the same time. In the past, they would have to exit BondEdge to access a Windows product and vice versa.

The new product has the ability to exchange and retrieve additional data including real-time prices. lt offers expanded municipal bond capability.

The new BondEdge will also include enhancements incorporating client feedback. These include a more flexible reporting feature and new ways to run simulations of market activity.

December Release Expected

Ms. Adami said that beta-testing will begin in the fall and that more than 20 clients have offered to serve as beta sites. She anticipates that the product will be released in December.

Existing clients have the option to operate BondEdge in the current DOS environment or upgrade to Windows at no additional charge.
