Wires, Positive Pay on Wells Mobile

Wells Fargo & Co. announced Tuesday that corporate clients now can execute wire transfer services and review check images from their mobile devices.

The San Francisco banking company said authorized users can both initiate and approve wires using the browser function of the mobile handset.

They also can review check images that show up as exceptions in Wells' image positive pay service, which compares checks coming in for payment against an issue file provided by the client, so clients can make pay or no-pay decisions, Wells said.

"Our customers told us they wanted to handle wires and check exceptions without being at their desks," said Megan Minich, who leads the mobile technologies team in Wells' wholesale Internet and treasury solutions unit. "And when our customers give us feedback, we act."

Wells, which calls itself the only provider of browser-based mobile banking for commercial customers, introduced CEO Mobile in May 2007 as an extension of its online cash management portal, Commercial Electronic Office. Initially users could receive intraday information, such as account balances and alerts, on their mobile devices.
