Accertify Providing Mobile Banking Fraud Prevention For Latin American Banks

Accertify Inc. will add its fraud-prevention program to the mobile-banking offerings of several Latin American banks after signing an agreement with payment processor Tik Tek Solutions, S. de R.L. de C.V, the fraud-prevention and risk-management provider announced Nov. 7.

Tik Tek Solutions will incorporate the Accertify fraud-prevention software into a mobile-payment application for smartphones it is developing for its bank clients throughout Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean, Accertify said in a press release. The banks increasingly have become targets of the complex tactics of fraudsters and require layers of protection for mobile offerings, Eldred Garcia, Accertify senior vice president of business development in Latin America, said in the release.

“There is no one-size-fits-all solution for financial institutions,” Garcia said. “These companies need to constantly adjust their fraud-fighting tactics, and Accertify provides the flexibility and easily adaptable fraud-detection tool to stay one step ahead in the battle against fraud.”

Itasca, Ill.-based Accertify, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Express Co., provides multicurrency and multilanguage capabilities in its fraud-prevention and risk-management programs through its Interceptas program. Accertify entered the Latin American market in December and recently expanded its presence to Mexico and Brazil, the company stated.

Panama’s MetroBank announced a partnership with Accertify in February to help merchants, banks and processors to combat credit card fraud (see story).

Mexico City-based Tik Tek Solutions provides e-commerce and Internet payment platforms for financial institutions, retailers and manufacturers throughout Latin America, according to the press release.
