"If Amazon can get a physical package to me in the same day, why does it take three days to process a payment?" Chesnutt asks.
Currently, online merchants tend to make ACH payments or go through a system such as PayPal, Chesnutt says.
"When customers began asking us if we could help them streamline their disbursements over the debit rails, we realized we had the direct-to-debit solution already established and could provide them a solution right away," Chesnutt says.
The new offering leverages technology from Acculynk's PaySecure Internet PIN debit product, she adds. The software creates a virtual PIN pad to allow e-commerce sites to accept PIN payments.
Merchants can use debit or prepaid cards with the service, which Acculynk says speeds payments to individuals or small businesses by eliminating the typical two- to three-day delay.
Acculynk offers a full set of application interfaces to allow businesses to integrate debit rails processing. Acculynk says it is also developing a module of Payzur in which the business has a menu of options, such as a secure host pay page and an e-mail communication engine.
Acculynk is targeting businesses of all sizes with the Payzur direct-to-debit system, from major insurance companies to established online marketplaces and aggregators, Chesnutt says. Merchants using the service generally establish a settlement account with Acculynk from which to draw funds, she adds.
"We are also working on a bundled set of direct-to-debit modules for smaller businesses and startups who are interested in having us host and manage more of the disbursements process," Chesnutt adds.
