Allied Wallet adds Alipay, opens Asian headquarters

Online payment processor Allied Wallet is now accepting Alipay as part of its payment gateway to help simplify payments between the U.S. and China.

West Hollywood, Calif.-based Allied Wallet provides multi-currency merchant services and is also planning an expansion in Asia, announcing its Allied Wallet Asia division is opening new headquarters in Malaysia.

"The internet has connected people of all countries and created a global marketplace, and we're happy to support that," Andy Khawaja, CEO and founder of Allie Wallet, said in a Wednesday press release. "This new partnership with Alipay will allow us to connect millions upon millions of users, even more than we already do, and grow global economies."

The company's new Asian headquarters will serve a population of 32 million Malaysians and 264 million Indonesians. This will help Allied Wallet tap into a growing e-commerce market of 1.1 billion euros, expected to double by 2020. Indonesia already has about 32 million e-commerce users and that number is projected to grow to 54 million by 2022, Allied said in the release.

"Not only can we facilitate payments, but we can support the preferred payment methods of the region," Khawaja said.

The Allied Wallet enables business owners to accept various payment methods and consumers to shop across borders.
