American Express Co. has begun enabling its cardholders to transfer Membership Rewards points to British Airways, the 17th airline to become a points-transfer partner, the company says. Other airlines include JetBlue Airways and Delta Air Lines.
Cardmembers can visit the Membership Rewards Web site to transfer their AmEx Membership Rewards points the airlines frequent-flyer programs. The points are of equal value to airline miles, according to an AmEx spokesperson. Point transfers are final and cardmembers cannot transfer points back to Membership Rewards, she says.
AmEx also announced it has extended its British Airways cobranded card agreement in the United Kingdom. “This is one of our most popular cards overseas,” the spokesperson tells PaymentsSource.com. “[The deal extension] was a natural progression given the success of the partnership.”
