American Express Co. has hired a new technology executive for the team that handles its digital wallet, Serve, the card company announced April 2.

Neal Sample joins Amex as a senior vice president. Most recently, Sample was the chief technology officer of eBay Inc.’s open development and commerce platform, X.Commerce. Before that, he was eBay's vice president of architecture and platform products.
Sample has "a wealth of technology experience" and "an established track record of leading platform evolution for new technology," Jason Hogg, Amex's president for Serve Enterprise, said in a press release.
