Apple's Siri now uses PayPal for voice-controlled P-to-P

PayPal has added support for Apple Inc.’s Siri voice-command feature for person-to-person payments, following Apple's decision to open Siri to third-party developers.

Consumers with a PayPal account who use an iPhone and iPad can now link Siri to their account, enabling a hands-free process for initiating P2P transfers, PayPal said in a Nov. 9 blog post. Square Cash and Monzo already support Siri for P-to-P payments.

The feature is available for PayPal customers in more than 30 countries and most major languages, according to the blog post by Meron Colbeci, senior director of core consumer products at PayPal.

“Simply say, ‘Hey Siri, send Bill $50 using PayPal,’” Colbeci wrote in the post, adding: “Voila! One less thing to check off the to-do list this holiday season.”

PayPal has 192 million registered users and the company predicts it will handle more than 17 million P-to-P transactions during December.
