An Austria-based prepaid voucher firm is "analyzing" a possible entry into the Brazilian market, Michael Mueller, CEO of Paysafecard Group, tells CardLine Global. The move would further heighten the competition between Paysafecard and a major competitor, United Kingdom-based Ukash, which earlier this week said it would expand into Uruguay (CardLine Global, 1 Oct.). The firms sell prepaid vouchers with unique numerical codes that consumers use for online transactions and purchases, including for games. The firms say the vouchers appeal to consumers who do not want to use cards for online purchases, or lack intentionally-branded cards that are easy to use online. Paysafecard has set no timetable for an entry into Brazil, Mueller says. The firm operates in at least 20 countries.
