The airline, which is majority owned by Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group Ltd., said Thursday that the card would offer a variety of rewards, including three miles for every $1 spent on Virgin Atlantic purchases, 1.5 miles for every dollar spent on everyday purchases.

Through the end of January cardholders will automatically receive an entry for every $10,000 spent on the card for a chance to win a trip into space on Virgin Galactic.

B of A also issues cards that use the Amex network on behalf of Asiana Airlines Inc. of Seoul.

The Charlotte company issued its first Amex reward product in 2006.
