The app, which the companies plan to integrate with HyperSoft's point of sale systems in September, manages multiple membership cards for each customer. DNP's technology will support Near Field Communication payments once the contactless payment technology is more widespread. The app will work with C-Sam's mobile transaction platform.

“We believe that the Salon de Wallet will be a very effective customer retention tool for beauty salons. We will contribute to the Salon de Wallet’s success by providing our smart card expertise,” says Sakae Hikita, managing director of DNP, in a July 15 press release.

The app stores transaction histories and a beauty profile for each customer, and this data can be used to provide recommendations and alerts. The app also tracks reward points and lets users shop through a mobile e-commerce site.

The app will support more than 2,000 beauty salons with more than 7.5 million customers, the companies say.
