Everlink Payment Services Inc. of Markham, Ontario, has introduced a new anti-fraud service that allows Interac debit card users to activate and deactivate their accounts for security.
Everlink will provide an application programming interface to its credit union and bank clients to integrate their mobile banking apps into Everlink's new anti-fraud measure, which it calls Lock'N'Block.
The system, as its title implies, is meant to lock cards which exhibit suspicious activity in order to block fraud while providing status updates on Android and iOS devices. The Lock'N'Block system also works with Everlink's DebitWear wristbands.
The concept of a card account on/off switch controlled through a mobile app has been used before.
