Capital One Financial Corp. has launched a Web site to help its cardholders research and donate to more than 1.2 million charities in the United States. The new No Hassle Giving site (www.capitalone.com/give), which Cap One announced today, includes a database of the charities researched by GuideStar, a charity information reporting service. Not-for-profit Network for Good is partnering with Cap One on the venture. Cardholders can search charities by features such as name, cause or ZIP code, and they can set up recurring or one-time donations on their Cap One cards. Cardholders also can access information such as archives of their donations and summaries of donations that are tax-deductible. Cardholders with Cap One rewards cards will earn rewards points from their donations. Cap One is covering transaction fees for each donation, so charities will not have to pay interchange. In a recent Cap One survey, 83% of respondents said they are more concerned about their finances, and more than half reported cutting back on donations or say they cannot donate because money is tight.
