Cashbox PLC has signed a two-year deal to promote the China UnionPay payment card network on its Cashbox ATMs, the United Kingdom-based nonbank ATM owner and operator said Wednesday. Cashbox will place Mandarin-language stickers on all its ATMs, a Cashbox spokesperson tells CardLine Global. Cashbox deploys "just over 2,500" ATMs, the spokesperson adds. The stickers will inform UnionPay cardholders the machines accept UnionPay cards. The contract follows a deal announced in August under which Link, a United Kingdom-based ATM network, said it would support cash withdrawals initiated with China UnionPay credit and debit cards (CardLine Global, 13 Aug.) Link's network includes 64,000 ATMs, virtually all the ATMs in the UK.
