Celcom Bhd plans to expand the scope of its mobile-commerce services over the next year, an official at the Malaysia-based telecommunication operator tells CardLine Global. "We had introduced Celcom Air Cash, a USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Services Data)-based mobile money-transfer service in June this year," he says. According to the operator's Web site, Celcom Air Cash enables users to transfer funds to other Air Cash users, remit funds and reload airtime. Celcom users previously could remit funds solely to Indonesia via sister company PT Excelcomindo Pratama, according to the Web site. "We have now expanded the money-transfer service to the Philippines as well partnering with Globe Telecom," the official says. "We are further looking to expand this remittance service to Bangladesh, Cambodia, India and Singapore." The operator also may launch a mobile-based utility bill payment service and a fare-payment service, according to the official.
