Shanghai-based Allinpay has become an acquirer for the Discover Global Network, enabling Allinpay merchants to accept all Discover and Diners Club cards in Hong Kong, Diners Club International announced this week.
Allinpay, one of China’s leading alternative payment providers, is on a mission to expand its reach outside of Mainland China and will initially will target merchants in the travel sector, Diners Club said in a Sept. 12 press release.
“Providing more payment choices and services to Hong Kong merchants and cardholders is in line with our goal to aggressively open up overseas markets,” said Jim Yu, Allinpay’s vice president of network services, in the release.
Hong Kong is a key destination for consumers with Discover cards, and the partnership with Allinpay should improve their shopping options there, added Ricardo Leite, vice president of global acceptance for Discover.
