China Merchants Bank has launched yet another credit card designed to appeal to fans of foreign cartoons. The "Astro Boy" card commemorates a Japanese animated series that features a robot as the title character. The series first ran on Japanese television in 1963 and remains popular in China. The card will carry the China UnionPay brand, a bank spokesperson tells CardLine Global. The bank will offer the card in "classic" and "gold" varieties. The bank also has issued credit cards featuring Hello Kitty, another animated character from Japan, and Tom and Jerry, a cartoon cat and mouse from the United States.
