Citibank Philippines Tests Mobile-Payments System

IMGCAP(1)]

Citibank Philippines says it is testing a service in the Philippines that enables the bank's cardholders to use their mobile phones to order flowers and meals. After registering for the service, called "Citi Mobile," cardholders use text messages and PINs to make purchases. Customers also can use the service to add value to prepaid phones and pay utility bills, the bank says in a statement. "The continued popularity of [text messaging] in the Philippines presented us an opportunity to introduce Citi Mobile," Mark Jones, country business manager for the bank, says in the statement.
