RBS Citizens Financial Group is adding person-to-person payments for its online-banking users and expedited automated clearinghouse funds transfers for its mobile-banking users.
Citizens is using Fiserv Inc.’s CashEdge products, such as Popmoney, for these services, Sreedhar Vegesna, the bank's head of Internet and mobile banking, said in an interview. The new services went live last month.
"We looked at our customers' needs and wants, … and we felt that giving our customers convenience, and providing greater access to do payments online and in the mobile device, was an important approach," Vegesna said.
The bank offers ACH transfers for free if the funds move to another Citizens account. It charges $10 to move funds to an account at a different bank.
Using Popmoney, Citizens also offers transfers to outside accounts for a fee. It costs $1 to transfer funds within three business days and $10 to transfer funds within one business day.
