ControlScan bolsters cybersecurity technology through Dunbar acquisition

Seeking to bring advanced technology to its managed security services, ControlScan has acquired Dunbar Cybersecurity and its security operations center.

Atlanta-based ControlScan, which provides managed security and compliance software to mid-level enterprises, says the Dunbar acquisition and its Cyphon cybersecurity platform will strengthen threat detection and response capabilities for its customers.

"Having a strong cybersecurity defense is business critical," ControlScan CEO Mark Carl said in a press release. "As attackers become increasingly advanced, it's no longer realistic to assume that defense is 100 percent impenetrable."

The majority of Dunbar Cybersecurity's analysts will remain at ControlScan after the acquisition is complete, the company said.

Dunbar Cybersecurity operates out of Hunt Valley, Md. The companies did not disclose the financial details of the transaction.

"Dunbar Cybersecurity's growth has supported ongoing innovation in the way we monitor, detect and respond to our customers' cybersecurity threat," Tom Callahan, director of operations for Dunbar, said in the release. "Becoming a primary component of the ControlScan managed security services solution further advances the strong return on investment we provide."
