Diebold Nixdorf has developed new technology to streamline and personalize the shopping and checkout experience at stores and restaurants.
Separately, Diebold has hired longtime IBM executive Mark S. Brewer as its new senior vice president and managing director of Diebold’s global retail division. Brewer’s experience working in retail industry technology across the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific make him equipped to execute Diebold’s global retail growth strategy, said Juergen Wunram, Diebold Nixdorf’s interim co-president and co-CEO, in a Thursday press release.
The Canton, Ohio-based maker of ATMs and cash registers has introduced the “Storevolution” program, using various software modules that connect with mobile devices inside retail and restaurant environments to give consumers more control over shopping, Diebold said in its release.
The concept supports mobile-enabled touchpoints inside stores that work together with self-scanning software that may be tailored to deliver individual shoppers’ requests for specific merchandise, richer product information or customer service, according to the release.
The program can be adapted to support consumer checkouts with or without retail staff support via mobile devices, kiosks or payment terminals, the release said.
