Residents of Qatar's capital city of Doha will test disposable, contactless prepaid cards for fare payments on buses, a spokesperson for the city's local transport company, Mowasalat, tells CardLine Global. "We will conduct a small pilot soon," the spokesperson says, without offering further details. Turkey-based Kentkart, which provides automated fare-collection systems, also will participate in the project. "Once we make the system reliable and efficient, it will go online," the spokesperson says. "Afterwards, we also plan to introduce a system where bank cards can be accepted."
