Slyde includes marketing, a loyalty program and touch-less payments technology. The app is designed to allow merchants to acquire new customers, speed up checkout and streamline offers and engagement.

“SK Planet is bringing the power of their leading mobile commerce technology to the U.S. for the first time and we’re proud to be an early partner," says Ted Tekippe, DoubleBeam’s CEO, in a July 10 press release. "Retailers can now enjoy the advanced technology of our robust, cloud-based GoPago POS system, coupled with customer-centric marketing solutions to help drive a deeper relationship with their customers.”

During the pilot, select retailers in Berkeley, Calif. will use beacons to connect the stores with its customers and attract nearby consumers with real-time offers.

Consumers that download the Slyde app link a payment card. Offers will be applied and payments processed automatically when customers checkout. They will not have to pull out their wallet or phone.

On the merchant's GoPago point of sale system a consumer profile is show on the terminal screen, similar to Square's cloud-based Wallet app which disappeared from app stores in May.

Square is shifting its focus to Square Order because Square Wallet had less utility and did not resonate with consumers, the San Francisco company told Re/code.

DoubleBeam purchased GoPago in December. SK Planet is a U.S.-based mobile commerce subsidiary of SK Telcom, a South Korean wireless company.
