Online alternative-payment product PayPal, which eBay Inc. owns, represents 31% of eBay's company-wide revenues, Bob Swan, eBay senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer, told analysts yesterday during eBay's fourth-quarter earnings call. PayPal Inc.'s total revenue reached $623 million, an 11% increase over fourth quarter 2007. Total payment volume reached $16 billion, a 14% increase over the same quarter last year. Total payment volume increased 13% in the United States and 15% internationally, Swan said. "PayPal continues to move towards ubiquity on the Web through increased penetration on eBay and an increasingly expanded footprint beyond eBay," said Swan. PayPal also extended its international presence with 45% of revenue coming from outside the U.S., he said. PayPal accounts reached 70 million, a 23% increase over the same quarter last year. He did not provide 2007 numbers.
