Elavon Brings Tablets to Digitally Savvy Canadian Market

Payment processor and technology provider Elavon is launching tablet-based point-of-sale software for its small and mid-size merchants in Canada.

Elavon, a unit of U.S. Bancorp, will work with Silicon Valley software company talech to equip Canadian businesses with a secure POS platform featuring interactive payment processing, data analytics and business management tools.

“Our new solution offers a simple, intuitive tool that puts data-driven insights at the fingertips of any business owner," Mia Huntington, senior vice president and general manager of Elavon Canada, stated in a Sept. 13 press release.

"Now, the local vintage clothing store or nearby bakery can take orders, manage inventory, access customer information and view daily reports in real time with just a few taps,” Huntington added.

Elavon and talech have worked together since 2014 when it launched a similar POS platform in the U.S. and Europe. The Canadian market is considered particularly fertile ground for digital payments programs and other financial technology.

Earlier this year, Elavon brought Near Field Communication technology to its Canadian clients in order to accept Apple Pay at the point of sale.
