GoPago Inc., a San Francisco-based mobile payment provider last week hired Steve Elefant as its chief strategy officer. Elefant, a senior strategic consultant at Google Inc. for the past year, served as Heartland Payment Systems’ chief information officer until 2011.

Elefant, who has 25 years of experience in the payments industry, will "lead growth in new channels and further develop GoPago Live’s all-in-one cloud POS with an integrated mobile payments platform," the company stated in a press release.
Elefant has a background as a "serial entrepreneur," having founded seven startups, including a large ISO, and as a former venture capitalist with private equity firm Soaring Ventures, GoPago says.
Elefant is an active member of the U.S. Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Infragard Electronic Crimes Task Force.
