Fime Builds Contactless Payments Testing System for Discover

Chip-testing provider Fime has developed an infrastructure and laboratory for Discover's contactless D-Payment Application (D-PAS) products.

Discover plans to verify that these products meet security requirements, international industry standards and are interoperable with other companies' products.

Fime, which announced a similar testing service with Visa this week and also provides testing for Isis, will use a specification for both chip-based payment cards and acceptance terminals. Fime will then develop a customized test plan and tool, which developers and acquirers will use to confirm that Discover's contactless products perform as intended.

"Testing solutions in a uniformed manner and to the highest standard confirms the integrity of new products entering the market, which is vital to achieving user trust and engagement," says Troy Bernard, director and global head of mobile and EMV products at Discover, in a Nov. 12 press release.
