Local governments, universities and charities in the United Kingdom may use First Data Corp. to manage their credit cards issued to employees now that the Atlanta-based company is an approved supplier to these types of organizations, First Data says.
The UK Office of Government Commerce this week named First Data as a supplier in the Payment Card Solutions & Associated Services contract for public service organizations, which also includes police agencies. About 1,200 such organizations participate in the agreement, First Data says.
Other suppliers include American Express Co., Barclays PLC and Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC.
Organizations that choose First Data to manage their card programs can monitor card use and have daily access to transaction records, a First Data spokesperson tells PaymentsSource. More than 100 UK public service organizations use First Data’s D.Cal system to manage their card programs, the processor says.
The system also enables card-program managers to identify whether transactions bypass the organization’s expenditure policy and to integrate transaction data into the organization’s accounting system, First Data says.
First Data would not disclose how much the D.Cal system costs but says organizations pay a setup fee, an annual license fee tied to the size of the card program, and an annual maintenance and support fee.
