FrontStream Payments Inc., a Brentwood, Tenn.-based provider of electronic payments and services, announced Wednesday it is creating a prepaid card subsidiary called FrontStream Prepaid. It also has hired Ed Kelley, former vice president of business development for San Francisco-based prepaid card processor i2c Inc., as president of the new division, FrontStream Payment spokesperson Chase Perry tells CardLine. Though FrontStream Prepaid can provide any type of open-loop prepaid card, it plans to concentrate on offering payroll cards, cards for insurance claims, and cards for corporations for one-time payments, such as reimbursements, Kelley says. It also plans to offer gift cards, he says. Palm Desert (Calif.) National Bank issues the cards, which carry the MasterCard logo, Kelley says. "We feel like it really rounds out our product line," Kelley says of the new division. "It enables us to provide our clients with both credit and prepaid products that can benefit their organizations."
