AMES, Iowa – A member of Greater Iowa CU was arrested last week for allegedly writing $12,200 in bad checks to herself through a credit union ATM machine and immediately withdrawing the money.

Charde Abbott wrote checks for $2,500, $5,500 and $4,500, then allegedly withdrew all but $300 of the deposits immediately after making them.

The credit union member wrote the checks out of a bank account in her name in San Antonio, Texas, which had insufficient funds.
